Media Techniques & Inquiry for Elementary and Middle Level Schools
Artist Research -
In Art 201 we had an assignment to research an artist that we were interested in. I chose photographer Cindy Sherman, due to the fact that I have heard about her in previous photography classes and was excited for the opportunity to learn more about her. On the right is the slideshow I created about her.

Clinical Experience
For my clinical experience for this class I worked with Illinois Art Station, an art organization that is located near the Illinois State University campus. Illinois Art Station works with various age groups and does art projects with them that also teaches the kids something new. During this experience I worked with the younger students, ages 2-3. The the left is a slideshow I made of the experience! It shares some information about the lessons I observed as well as pictures to show the materials used and finished projects of the lessons.
Pal 1 ExperienceFor my Pal 1 experience I went to University Art Galleries in Uptown Normal. I walked around for about a half an hour and it was a wonderful experience. My favorite pieces were by artist Caroline Kent. I really liked her piece "Words the meet you in the future" created in 2021, which is pictured down below. I liked how large this piece was and other ones in this series. And I also really appreciated the color scheme and design aspects of it. I found it really beautiful and could not take my eyes off of it. It was interesting seeing all the different pieces and it was really cool to find out that there is a gallery so close to where I am currently residing. I hope to go again!

Pal 2 ExperienceI currently work at a daycare in town called Little Jewels Learning Center. At this daycare I am a teacher assistant and I participate in many activities that teach the kids different art forms. For example, every day at 3 we will do art activities that include painting, building, drawing, etc. It is a great way for me to get some teaching experience as well as some experience teaching arts specifically. I was not able to get any photos because photos are restricted there, but one art activity was to build a "tower or castle". They were given magnets and told to build one of the two choices. Some twins in class decided to build a tower and were so excited to show mom later when they were picked up. I really enjoy working here and I love how it gave me a PAL 2 experience for this class. I think this is a perfect example of how we can do something we love for our PAL's.
